MONTREAL BAGELS

I have just discovered something interesting about Montreal Bagels! They are famous but I have never really known the reason why till I read some trivial matters from the Tourism Montreal...

"Montréal bagels are different from New York and Toronto bagels in that they are made with eggs and are baked in wood ovens. In comparison, New York bagels are made with water and
are spongy, while Toronto bagels are usually baked in gas ovens. "

So, next time, I'll know why they are not as spongy when I eat one again. Not a big fan of bagels though. I only appreciate it more when someone told me that it's good for your teeth as you chew on it...

I still enjoy my occasional trips to Montreal's famous bagel shops in town, Fairmount and St. Viateur to get just that one bagel! The bagel itself may not be worth that journey (40 mins by foot or 20 mins by bike) but the trip along the way is definitely worth the going! Maybe it's because it's such a small shop set in the old and interesting residential neighbourhood of Mile End, I spent such a long time searching for it the first time that when I finally got to the shop and eat the bagel, it seemed awfully tasty and unexpectedly gratifying!

Oh,maybe they are better used as decorations too!!
