I just learnt something new today! F.E.A.R actually means False Evidence Assumed Real!
I need to get rid of all those False Accusations that I have always Assumed to be Real!!!

BIN LADEN AND BUSH
I saw this while walking down from Old Montreal towards Chinatown, near Palais des Congress.
Pointe-à-Callière
I went to the Patrimonial Direction (not too sure what it means in English, just got refered to this dept..supposedly to take care of arhaeological sites or something under the city) the other day, talked with the librarian for 2 hours or so and then she suggested that I should go check out the Pointe-à-Callière museum of archaeology and history as it's linked to my site and the sewage collector ( part of the archaeological remains on my site) runs past it too. So I did. I visited the muesum yesterday though I almost wanted to just give it a miss because I was there during my first year with the class and no doubt that the building was interesting, I was just moving so quickly through the muesum because I was bored by the history then. Afterall, every country has got their own history. I wasn't even part of Montreal. Why will I care so much about their history? Then, this time round, when I went walking round once more, the feeling was very different. I was reading through every bit of information and for once, I felt that I was reading a story book except that my body was moving. There was never at any point when I had felt bored. I felt that I could understand and relate to what it was talking about now. Places, buildings that were major sites of historical events were all familiar to me. I am glad that I went to visit the muesum again. It was pretty inspiring for my thesis in a way as it also held archealogical remains as part of the muesum.
The Sewage Collector that runs through my site, Place d'Youville
THESIS
Who will have guessed that this parking lot once had a market which was later transformed into the Parliament for Upper and Lower Canada? Such a significant site with so many layers of history built upon it, yet anyone who walk pass it will find it hard to relate to its past. Even I find it so unbelievable.
When I first chose this site, I did not even realised that it was such a significant site. I chose it because I like the site and its context. I have began my thesis subject on "Public Spaces" and given the feedback I had last semester, I had fine tuned or redirected my thesis question to be more specific. That is, I have decided to direct it more specifically on the tension between public spaces and tourist spaces. The site is in Old Montreal and also right next to the Faubourg des Recollect, a district with abandoned warehouses and vacant lots but has been subjected to redevelopment projects in recent years and more to come. The fact that it was once a public square but its importance has dimished over the years as the city develops and to its current state as becoming part of montreal's historical heritage while being a place of interest for the tourist naturally leads us to question the role of our traditional public spaces.
Henceforth, I am hoping to revive the site into a public space for the residents or local montrealers once again while at the same time, evoking its historical interest for the tourist crowd.
What will it be though...hmm...that's an interesting question for me to go on to the next step.

CAMPING @ Frontenac
For Eva...Evidence of Stanley occupying the whole of the back seat and the girls had to squeeze in front!!!
Setting up the tent
Our lovely shelter for the two chilling nights
Setting up the campfire which is always such a tedious affair that makes our food seem so tasty after the long wait..
We even had to hang on to keep our fire going in the midst of the rain
Our campsite with our rented MPV ...which even had a dvd player inside!! We thought of watching dvds at night though we never really did get to that part since all of us just passed out at about 11pm...after all the washing up.
Deprived of sleep...maybe we should have just slept in the car...
Summary of trip: We canoed. we hiked. we saw some spectacular stretch of greens.we counted the stars at night. we saw shooting stars across the sky. we saw 2 deers crossing the road, 3 wild hares including one that went into our tent, 2 rats, 2 snakes, countless caterpillars in the cocoon and crickets in the grassland. we built campfires 5 times. we (or maybe just me) had to sleep through 2 cold cold nights and stared at the pitch darkness and withnessed the sunrise from the tent.
